Chapter four: "What Frightened the Fair Gwen"
In chapter four of Freak the Mighty, Maxwell takes Freak into his room in the down under. Immediately, Freak enjoys how cool Max’s room looks. As they look around the room, Max questions Freak about why he calls his mom “Fair Gwen of Air.” As soon as that question was asked, Freak was enlightened because that nickname was based on one of his favorite tales, King Arthur. He tells the tale, and Max is very interested, but at the same time, Max is confused about some of Freak’s vocabulary choices. Soon enough, Gwen begins to call Freak in a worried tone of voice. Freak rushes up, but Max gets up there first. Gwen grabs Freak and runs home, leaving Max wondering why she ran away so fast.
